Into the Wild: Bears, Wolves and the Magic of the Taiga

Scroll

At the end of April, we traveled to the remote forests of Finland to photograph bears and wolves, and what an unforgettable trip it was!

The experience was beyond anything we imagined. Remote Finland felt like a scene from a nature documentary, with golden sunsets, snowfall, and rains that made every moment feel magical. It was the perfect trip, full of stories, and nonstop excitement.

We saw wildlife on four out of five days, including nine different wolves and over 30 sightings! By the fourth day, spotting a wolf almost felt normal… almost. As someone new to wildlife photography (though I’d photographed birds and small animals before), this was my first big adventure, and it blew me away.

I came home with stunning photographs, unforgettable memories, and best of all, new friends. I can’t wait for the next adventure.

Brown bear staring at the camera

The brown bear is so fierce and majestic in the wild, yet in this moment, it seems almost innocent; standing and looking right at me like a giant teddy bear.

Stunning without even trying! A natural model in the Taiga posing like it knows the world is watching.

Out of nowhere, the wolves began to howl; right in front of us. Gave me chills. One of the most surreal things I’ve ever seen.

One of my favorite moments from the entire trip—watching these little wolves play was pure joy.

We were lucky enough to experience almost every season in one trip—golden light, sunshine, rain, and the most magical of all… snow

It felt like nature showing off, and we were right there to witness it
